ABOUT

Laura Vernon is experienced in designing and developing brand identities for both local and international companies such as University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University, Yummés and CMH Heli-Skiing. She earned a BFA in Graphic Design from Western Michigan University and relocated to the Southeast Michigan area where she worked as a Junior Art Director at a large advertising agency in Detroit. After discovering ad agencies weren’t quite her thing, she moved on to become a Senior Graphic Designer at a small, but powerful design studio in Ann Arbor. This position gave Laura the opportunity to play large roles in the development of print, packaging, website and environmental design, in addition to developing strong client relationship skills and leadership experience.

After nearly six years there, life took her to Japan for 18 months, where she worked as a freelance designer. Upon her return to the US, Laura then worked as a Fixed-term Faculty at Michigan State University, teaching a variety of Graphic Design courses and sharing her passion for design. She is now at The University of Michigan, working as a Multimedia/Graphic Designer + Art Director for Auxiliary Marketing, a marketing partner for the revenue driving departments in Student Life. She enjoys working across their large client base, and has successfully launched several new brands including Cafe 32, Roast, Re:Union, Sustainability, and a full Housing rebrand.

When not in front of the computer, she’s most certainly behind a camera or a book, with a cat or three at her feet.
